Fantail – Piwakawaka
Location: Private collection.
THE CARVING: A fantail. Carved from totara that used to be a Maniototo fence post. Eyes are onyx, legs cast metal and painted with artist acrylics.
Set upon found wood.
THE BIRD: Endemic to New Zealand. Fantails are found on all islands though not in tussock lands and alpine areas.
Life size. Wall mounted. Approximately 400mm high x 280mm wide x 230mm out from wall.
